Disability in the Workplace Panel

Yesterday at California State University, East Bay, TheCIL hosted a panel discussion about disability in the workplace, featuring people with disabilities from the workforce, including TheCIL Executive Director Stuart James. The panel discussed how a disability can be considered an asset in the workplace.



Ian Smith spoke about his experiences as a computer programmer and software engineer in the Bay Area, and offered advice to students with disabilities as they prepare to enter the workforce.



Bev Carleton, Head of Global Talent Acquisition at Pinterest talked about the importance of hiring people with disabilities, and why many tech companies actively seek out employees with disabilities.



The Disabled List CEO, Josh Halstead spoke about his experience as a designer in San Francisco. He currently teaches graphic and user experience design at UC Berkeley Extension and CCA Extension.
