Police, Safety, and You

The CIL held our Police, Safety, and You, an interactive workshop for youths with disabilities on Saturday, June 2, from 10:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Ed Roberts Campus.


Officer Hank Morten from Alameda Police Department, Lieutenant Mike Hayes from BART Police Department, Tunisia Owens from Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Andrea Prichett from Berkeley Copwatch, Sandra Regan from Regional Center of the East Bay, Susan Gonzalez from Deaf Counseling Advocacy & Referral Agency, and youths with disabilities collaborated and discussed ways to stay safe during interactions with the police.

The workshop provided an important platform for youths with disabilities to engage with law enforcement and safety advocates. Collaborative discussions with officers and community members shed light on vital safety measures during police interactions.
