Info About Visiting CIL's Berkeley Office

As of December 1st, 2021 our office at the Ed Roberts Campus is open! Our staff has begun working onsite on a limited basis and can make appointments for in-person services from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday.

While this is not a full opening of our office, we are excited by this important step in serving our community. Please note that the majority of staff are not in the office at the same time and that the best way to meet with a specific program or staff member is to make an appointment. Appointments for in-person services are subject to the staff member's schedule you wish to meet.

We require people to wear masks at all times in our offices. Our capacity is capped at 15 people. Appointments and walk-ins for in-office services are on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you have any questions, would like to schedule an appointment, or talk with one of us, please contact us at (510) 841-4776 or info@centerforindependentliving.org.

Please note that not all of our staff are present in the office at the same time. If you want to meet with a specific program or staff member, reaching out to us and making an appointment for an in-person or virtual meeting is still the best way to do so.

We plan to have a schedule of office hours for each program soon. Please check back for more information on this schedule in the coming weeks.

We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic situation and recognize that changes in public health policy and community safety may necessitate further alterations of our office availability. We will post updates on our main webpage and social media accounts as needed.

Below is a brief overview of some of our office health and safety protocols in relation to consumer meetings:

  • Masks are required at all times in CIL offices. If you have medical or other restrictions or concerns about wearing a face mask, please contact us before coming to the office to work out an appropriate accommodation.

  • Our office capacity is capped at 15 people total. Walk-in and in-person appointments are on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do our best to schedule you at our next available time.

  • Our lobby will only be open to two individuals at a time to maintain a social distancing of six feet. All other visitors will need to wait outside, regardless of appointments

  • CIL staff may request to know your vaccination status or the status of a recent (within three days) Covid-19 test. Consumers are not required to comply with this request, but it may affect your ability to meet inside our office rather than at an outdoor location.

  • The Center for Independent Living, Inc. maintains the right to deny services to anyone whose behavior is disruptive to services and/or employees of the agency and/or disrespectful to the person providing services and/or members and/or visitors at CIL.
